Guest Blog: The perfect weekend away in Kent, UK.
Known as the ‘garden of England’, Kent is always the perfect place for a weekend escape in the UK. With so much variety within Kent, you will never be stuck on what to do, or where to spend a day out!
Along the Northern coastline of Kent, is a beautiful town and beach called Whitstable; filled with little independent shops, oyster bars and fisherman’s huts. It’s the perfect place to escape for a weekend away, where you can enjoy freshly caught seafood from one of many oyster bars, restaurants, lobster shacks and markets. Other than the delicious, fresh seafood; Whitstable has so much to offer that’ll keep everyone happy. It’s a town with quaint streets filled with independent speciality shops, where you can find one-off pieces, whether it be for your home, wardrobe or a gift for a special occasion; my favourites include: ‘Taking the Plunge’, ‘Herbaceous’ and ‘Harbour Books’
The thing that makes Whitstable beach differ from other nearby seaside towns, is the boat-infested pebbly walks. All along the seafront are rows of pebbles leading down to the water, where you’ll see a huge amount of boats! This also makes the perfect place to set up a picnic, or snuggle up and watch the sunset. There is always a really good vibe at Whitstable whether it is busy or not, there are many events and it has such a social feel!
Being a typical UK beach, the weather is unpredictable; so this Striped Embroidered Cotton Top is the perfect match for a stroll around Whitstable. Pair this gorgeous top with denim shorts for those sunny summer days, or white jeans for the chilly British evenings. It’s so comfy and stylish at the same time, and the fact I can style it in all weathers is a huge bonus!
If you’re visiting on a sunny day, make sure you stop somewhere for an ice cream! Whitstable offers many places where you can grab a delicious ice cream in the heat, and even an old-school ice cream shop called ‘Sundae, Sundae’. If you’re not as lucky with the weather, then there are plenty of cosy coffee shops dotted around, so you can warm up with a latte or hot chocolate! Our favourite places to stop include ‘What’s up Cupcake?’ and ‘Tudor Restaurant and Tearooms’, they won’t disappoint!
If you’re staying the night, you MUST stay in a converted fisherman hut! They’re the sweetest little huts along the seafront that are decorated beautifully and make the perfect place to stay. With beautiful views from your room to wake up to, and everything you’ll need right on your doorstep, it’s the perfect way to get fully immersed into beach mode. Along the front, and throughout the town there is a variety of restaurants and pub’s open which means dinner is sorted!
