Best cities in Europe for a 3-day trip

Feel like jetting away from the British Isles for some culture and much-needed sunshine? There are plenty of places around Europe where you can head for an extended weekend break, but here are our top picks.

Rome

Rome wasn’t built in a day – but you can explore it in one!

Rome wasn’t built in a day – but you can explore it in one! This city is perfect for adventurers, foodies and shoppers alike! The weather in the later months is still quite warm – with highs of 22 in October and with its vast, rich history you can spend a full day visiting the many museums, ruins and monuments the city has to offer.

Walk in the footsteps of the Roman gladiators and even stop for a selfie with them at the Colosseum! This ancient amphitheatre is a tourist hotspot and can get very crowded. We recommend booking a guided tour to get the most from the experience. Next head to Vatican City and see the home of the Pope, the Sistine Chapel and marvel at over 9 miles of fine art including Michael Angelo’s ‘Creation of Adam’.

A tip here would be to purchase an audio guide and take it at your own pace. Don’t forget to bring a cover-up before entering the Sistine Chapel! Our cosy coverups, are perfect for this as they are light and airy and go with anything.

The city has a bustling nightlife and some of the world’s best food and entertainment. Our favourite spot is Piazza Navona – this square is as lively in the day as it is after dark. Visit in the afternoon for a light lunch at one of the many traditional Italian restaurants or dress up in the evening in one of our midi dresses, with a nice glass of wine to watch the street performers, musicians, fire breathers and entertainers.

With all the hustle and bustle of the city, it is nice to choose a hotel that offers some retreat from the busy days. Why not try an Airbnb if you want to get a more authentic experience of this Italian destination?

Paris

The city of love, Paris, is always a good idea! Interesting food, fantastic shopping and sophisticated nightlife – Paris is a perfect destination for a weekend away

Start your trip on the Champs Elysees, the city’s shopping hotspot. Go for brunch at one of the many small cafes and enjoy a croissant and coffee whilst taking in the view of the Arc De Triomphe. Purchase a crepe from a street vendor and head up the avenue, getting a full view of the magnificent city. The street is famous for its various shopping options and high-fashion department stores. Blend in seamlessly in one of our effortless dresses, – add a pair of heeled sandals and your favourite handbag for effortless style.

No trip to Paris is complete without a trip to the Eiffel Tower! We recommend booking in advance to beat the queues. Take the lift straight to the top and look down at the bustling streets below! Back on the ground, you’re just a short walk from the River Seine. Here you can enjoy a hot drink on one of the water bars or jump on a boat cruise and enjoy the landmarks that are dotted along the riverbank. Hop off at the Louvre and admire the fine art and history – ending with a glimpse of the world-famous Mona Lisa herself.

The days can be long in Paris as there is so much to see and cram in! You need somewhere warm and welcoming to rest your head after a long day on your feet. You will find many boutique hotels along the Parisian streets, so you’ll have your pick of where to go.

Barcelona

Not just for the sun chasers, Barcelona is a year-round hotspot for a quick weekend away! Barcelona has enough culture, history, entertainment and dining to last you a lifetime, but we can help you pack this into 48 hours

Start your trip by visiting the Sagrada Familia church. This unfinished Catholic church sits proudly within the city centre. Thousands of tourists come here each year to revel in the beautiful architecture – the thing Barcelona does best. Try and book your ticket in advance to secure your visit. Then head over to the Gothic Quarter and explore the winding streets lined with upmarket bars and flower stalls. Purchase some original artwork from a street vendor and head over to Las Ramblas for a spot of shopping.

Another selling point to Barcelona is that it is so close to the beach, meaning you can combine the city and the beach with little to no effort. We recommend Nova Icaria Beach – deemed a peaceful beach perfect for families and couples looking to relax

One of the best sights in this vibrant city is Park Guell. Designed by the famous Catalonian architect Antonio Gaudi, the park comprises colourfully tiled structures and fantastic views of the city and mountains. Our tip would be to purchase tickets to this attraction ahead of time to get a good deal. Keep comfortable and casual all day in the heat in our airy tops paired with trousers, and boots.

UK Holiday Destinations

We understand that not everyone can jet off for a weekend away, but don’t let that stop you! There are some lovely places throughout the UK that can be just as relaxing as lying on a beach.

The Lake District

An obvious choice when it comes to UK short breaks, the Lake District is home to some beautiful views and quaint cottages to relax in. Start your day in the good old outdoors and go for a walk up the many hills and valleys. Stop off for a hot breakfast and coffee in one of the little cafes dotted throughout the towns.

For the evening, we recommend going to a gastropub and having a hearty pub dinner with a classy twist. A knitted dress paired with a pair of thick black tights and some low-heeled boots is sure to keep you looking stylish and comfortable during your evening out..

Head back to the cabin for a glass of wine and a film by the fire. Wrap up warm in your cosiest blanket and your pjs! Acorn Cabin is situated on the shores of Lake Windemere and offers modern décor and amenities as well as being pet-friendly so you can bring the dogs along too!

Cornwall

One of the most popular destinations for UK holidaymakers is the south of England, in sunny Cornwall.

Perfect for families and couples, this county of seaside towns is the perfect destination for a much-needed break! Get up early and head out in the great outdoors, visiting some of the many attractions on offer such as Lands’ End, the Eden Project and St Michaels Mount.

Take a break from sightseeing to enjoy classic fish and chips and a cuppa on the seafront. The English seaside can be a bit nippy at times so keep yourself wrapped up in some Klass knitwear, and a pair of comfortable Klass leggings, with some walking shoes. Finish your day with ice cream and a walk along the side back to your hotel.

Being so close to the sea, we recommend you visit one of the many seafood restaurants for fresh food and sunset views. Finish off your day with a good book or your favourite tv show while the sun sets!

North England

Is down south too far for you to travel to in one weekend? Don’t worry! There are plenty of things to do in the North of England to keep the family entertained too. Why not take the little ones on an adventure to the Deep Dark Wood? Gruffalo Trails are available throughout England and allow you to enjoy a brisk walk through the English countryside while looking out for the Gruffalo himself. They can also take part in orienteering training for a small fee and get a map and certificate for their efforts.

When the weather begins to warm up, enjoy a day at Manley Mere Aqua Park based in the Cheshire countryside. With lots of water activities and adventure trails, there is endless fun for the little ones. Take a break in the Chameleon restaurant that overlooks the lake before taking part in some windsurfing.
