5 Inspirational British Women

March is Women's History Month and although we love to celebrate strong, inspiring women in our own lives all year round, this month reminds us to celebrate all women. March 8th marks International Womens Day and we have put together a list of 5 inspirational women you need to know about.


Katie Piper

After a cruel attack in 2008, Katie was left with life changing burns to her face and body and was blinded in one eye. She underwent pioneering surgery to restore her face and vision.

As well as becoming a household name with her numerous tv appearances, Katie is a best selling author and motivational speaker. She also runs the Katie Piper Foundation which helps and supports burn victims.


Amal Clooney

She may be married to George Clooney but it is safe to say that this woman’s achievements have gained her more recognition and praise than her celebrity coupling.

One of the worlds most respected human rights lawyers, Amal champions causes such as detained journalists in Burma and the suffering of the Yazidi women who are kidnapped by Isis.


Kate Middleton

You may know Catherine Middleton as the The Duchess of Cambridge, wife to Prince William and mother of the future king. However, Kate is so much more than her titles.

She holds patronage within over 20 charitable and military organisations, including Action for Children, SportsAidand the National Portrait Gallery.[8]She undertakes projects through The Royal Foundation, with her charity work mainly focusing on children and the arts.


Kris Hallenga

After being diagnosed with secondary breast cancer aged just 23, Kris jumped into action to create the CoppaFeel charity.

This charity informs women on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer as well as helping keep them informed on how to properly check themselves. The service is for all women but is especially beneficial for young women.


Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson

After being diagnosed with secondary breast cancer aged just 23, Kris jumped into action to create the CoppaFeel charity.

Now retired, she was made a life peer in 2010 and now regularly commentates for the BBC.
