Knitted Jumpers FAQs
How to wash a knit jumper?
How you wash your knit jumper is the difference between getting a hundred wears out of it, or just one.
- First, read the washing instructions on the label inside the jumper.
- Handwash-only? Take a small amount of delicate detergent and add it to a bowl or sink of warm water. Turn the jumper inside-out, then pass it between your hands and the water until it’s clean and fresh.
- Machine-washable items? Easy! Turn them inside-out, do up any loose buttons or zips, then put them into the machine. Set the programme and temperature stated on the label, then let the machine do the work.
- Once your knitwear is clean, lay it flat to dry. We don’t recommend putting it into the tumble-dryer or even on a hanger, as this can cause your jumpers and sweaters to shrink, stretch, or disfigure.
How to wear a chunky knit jumper?
The chunky knit jumper is a staple when the weather turns cool. For a casual look, shorter, cropped jumpers pair well with flared trousers and trainers. Try a silk midi skirt and long heeled boots for a dressier outfit on those cold evenings.
Prefer a longer chunky knit? French-tuck it into a midaxi skirt or wear it loose over wide-legged jeans for a laid-back look.
If your chunky knit jumper has real length to it, why not wear it as a dress? Pop on a pair of thick, woollen tights and your softest leather boots for comfy, casual autumnal days.
How to style a knit jumper?
Your knit jumper is one of the most versatile items in your wardrobe.
- Have fun with texture. Who says you can’t pair fluffy knit with pleather trousers?
- Try out different shapes. Tuck your jumper into your jeans and add a waist belt. Or let your sweater hang free over a maxi skirt for relaxed autumnal boho style.
- Wear it over layers (we’re talking t-shirts, long-sleeve tops, and blouses) for warmth…
- …and wear it under layers, like a blazer or tailored jacket, for a little something extra.
- Feeling a little too snug? Roll up the sleeves of your jumper or try a lightweight sweater over a white shirt for a preppy but casual look.
