How to wash knitwear?
When it comes to washing knitwear, you need an extra dash of TLC to keep them in perfect condition:
- Always check the label for instructions on how to care for your knitted items.
- For handwash-only pieces, add a small amount of delicate detergent to a bowl of warm water. Gently pass the fabric between your hands until it’s looking clean and smelling fresh.
- Machine-ready knits should be turned inside out before they go into the wash. Remember to close any fastenings (buttons, zips) to prevent them snagging.
- If in doubt, use the delicate setting on your washing machine and run the cycle at a low temperature (30°C or less).
- To keep your knitwear the right size and shape, lay it flat and leave it to air dry. Avoid putting delicate knitwear or woollen items on hangers to dry, as they could stretch and end up in the wrong shape.
